AFC Biological Incineration The proprietary AFC process achieves “Biological IncinerationSM” of wastewaters and sludges; AFC offers the advantage of as little as zero waste sludge production with only 10% of the footprint (land area) required by conventional technology. This thermophilic membrane bioreactor (TMBR) is a patented biological treatment process catalyzed by a proprietary ChemTreat system to achieve unprecedented net-zero yields of biosolids. The small footprint derives from the accelerated kinetics and the high operating solids levels. Large industrial systems have been in operation since 1996. The following processes are Service Marks of PMC BioTec: AFCsm; Biomass-to-Energy (AFC BioFuelssm); e-FFECT and ElectroChemsm; and BioFlexsm.
Bioflex Sludge Destruction Existing wastewater treatment plants can profit from the unique sludge destruction of the AFC process, but without conversion to thermophilic operation. This requires merely the addition of a positive solids recovery system and the side stream ChemTreat process to an aerobic digester. Existing MBR systems need add only the proprietary ChemTreat system for extremely cost-effective operation with negligible sludge production. The BioFlex process will provide greatly enhanced solids destruction capabilities and reduce net biosolids disposal by 50% to 90%.

Biomass-to-Energy, The AFC BioFuels Process Developed for Agricultural and Food processing wastes, the AFC BioFuels system utilizes the anaerobic version of the AFC process to convert organic waste from a disposal problem to a profit-generating resource. The AFC BioFuels process can achieve over 95% conversion of organic waste into methane-rich biogas for energy generation. Conventional waste treatment systems achieve less than 50% conversion and thus create a waste sludge disposal issue in addition to poor energy recovery. |
The e-FFECT ElectroChem System The e-FFECT system is for the non-biological treatment of smaller flows contaminated with organics or with recalcitrant compounds such as ETA, EDTA, dioxin, MTBE, ethylene glycol, etc. This system is ideal for contaminated groundwater, cooling loop contaminates, deicing fluids, etc. Extreme variations in ORP and pH are independently controllable and combined with free-radical oxidation potential form the nucleus of an extremely aggressive technology for the complete destruction of organic contaminant applications not amenable to biotreatment. Typically there are no residuals and operation is fully automated.
