I am the Operator and Plant Manager of an AFC system at an inactive remediation waste site in New Jersey. The AFC treats contaminated groundwater generated in pharmaceutical manufacturing which is diluted to 30,000 mg/l COD and 25,000 mg/l TDS. System startup was over 6 years ago. The company selected the AFC process after the potential cost of hauling to disposal was determined to be excessive. During my tenure, operation has been reliable, consistent and free of major issues. The AFC system achieves >99% COD removal and generates no odors. A minimal amount of sludge is wasted for blowdown of inorganics.

The reliable cooperation and support provided by PMC BioTec has contributed to a successful project resulting in savings to our company of about one million dollars annually. The plant cost about $1.5 million to construct, so the payback was less than 2 years.
