K & K Foods, Inc. - Taiwan

K & K Foods, Inc. is a food processing facility in Taiwan which manufactures processed meats for the McDonald’s fast foods restaurant system in Taiwan. K & K Foods, Kuan Yin plant located about 40 kms from Taipei City, has a wastewater flow rate of 100,000 gallons/day and a COD of approximately 10,000 mg/L with a large oil and grease component. The facility needed to implement wastewater treatment to meet discharge goals less than 250 mg/L for suspended solids and 600 mg/L for COD (>94% COD removal).

The facility desired to implement treatment without triggering off-site sludge disposal problems. Bench work and other feasibility analyses were performed for implementing AFC treatment of the target wastes. The plant implemented AFC treatment, using a cavitation air flotation (CAF) unit for solids separation.

The system has been in operation for over five years and has consistently met local effluent targets with negligible residual sludge production.

Thanks to PMC BioTec’s capabilities and devotion and efforts on this important project, cost savings for sludge disposal has been quite significant!
