CASE
HISTORY: K&K Foods, Inc.
APPLICATION: Treatment of Argicultural/Food Waste
Waste
Challenge
A Food Production facility in Taiwan which manufactures processed meats
has a wastewater with a flow of 100,000 gallons/day with a COD of approximately
10,000 mg/L with a large oil and grease component. The facility needed
to implement wastewater treatment to meet discharge goals less than
250 mg/L for suspended solids and 600 mg/L for COD (>94% COD removal).
The facility desired to implement treatment without triggering off-site
sludge disposal problems.
Solution
Performed bench work and other feasibility analyses for implementing
AFC treatment of target wastes. The Plant implemented AFC treatment,
using a cavitation air flotation (CAF) unit for solids separation.
Bottom Line
System has been operating for over five years. The system has been achieving
difficult effluent targets with no residual sludge production. Costs
savings for sludge disposal are over $400K/year.
